Summer Sun Safety

Summer is when we spend more time in the sun and if you are not careful it can cause sunburn, dehydration and heat stroke. Follow some simple rules for your safety: MINIMIZE sun exposure between 10 am and 3 PM. The sun’s rays come through even on the cloudiest of days. APPLY a sunscreen, such as the Moisturizing Sunscreen 25 or Rapid Dry Sunscreen 15 at least 30 minutes before sun exposure. Re-apply every 2 hours and after any water activities. WEAR protective clothing, such as hats and sunglasses. PROTECT your whole family, especially children.  Apply sunscreen beginning at 6 months of age.  PREVENT dehydration and heat stroke by drinking plenty of water and move to a shaded or air conditioned spot every half hour.

Avoid Wrinkling
10 Simple Ways

  1. STOP SMOKING

  2. ALWAYS USE SUNSCREEN

  3. AVOID TANNING including tanning beds

  4. GET ENOUGH SLEEP

  5. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

  6. CLEANSE, TONE & MOISTURIZE your skin every day and night. Try the Ultra Light Hydrator if your skin is oily or acne-prone.

  7. USE A TOPICAL VITAMIN A or C product, such as Super “C” Serum or Advantage A

  8. USE AN EYE CREAM, such as the Ultimate Eye Cream

  9. WEAR SUNGLASSES to help prevent wrinkles around the eyes. Wear them year round and check that they block 100% of UV rays.

  10. EXFOLIATE your skin with an Alpha Hydroxy Acid - AHA product, such as AHA Rejuvenating Gel 15  "A"dvantage

The Sun and "C"

We all know that using a sunscreen helps prevent wrinkles. A new report shows that applying topical Vitamin “C” not only in the morning but also at night will enhance the age defying effects that sunscreen provides during the day. Topical Vitamin C is absorbed quickly and gets below the surface of the skin to neutralize free radicals that are caused by exposure to the sun. This is important because free radicals destroy collagen and elastin, which help the skin maintain its smooth firm appearance. Topical Vitamin C is absorbed quickly and directly into the skin and then cannot be wiped or washed off. So, the healing and protecting qualities are lasting.  Back to top

Skin Care Tips

  • Sunscreens are getting better at blocking out more rays, but none are guaranteed to protect your skin from damage due to prolonged exposure. You need to re-apply every 2 hours and after water sports.
  • Your skin changes like the seasons. So, if you notice any problems with your current skin care regimen, it may be time to adjust your products.
  • The skin under your eyes is NOT like the rest of your face and really needs special attention with the use of an eye cream. There are no oil glands in this area to provide moisture and so this area becomes drier and fine lines and wrinkles are more prominent. Remember to use an eye cream!
