It’s
Autumn, the leaves are changing and so is your skin. Therefore, you will
need to adjust your skin care regimen for the drier weather ahead. You may
need to change your moisturizer to the
Light Textured
Moisturizer or the
Maximum Facial Moisturizer, depending on your skin type. It is also time
to think about total body skin care. The worst culprit for dry skin is
indoor heating. To counteract the effects drink plenty of water, use a
humidifier, moisturize not only your face, but your whole body, especially
after showering. Try the
Skin Replenish Lotion or the
Body Revive Lotion for
all over moisturizing. Additionally, if your eye area is showing signs of
dryness from the summer sun, I suggest the use of an eye cream, such as the
Gentle Supreme Eye Cream (for sensitive
skin) or the Ultimate Eye
Cream (for maximum results).
The kids have gone back to school and now is the time to
think about their skin care needs. Changing weather and added stress can
also make skin more susceptible to acne breakouts. Children are growing and
developing at a much earlier age and so their skin will change as well. Acne
can start, in the mildest form, as early as 8 or 9 years of age. Don’t wait
for it to become full blown, start them on a skin care regimen and develop
good habits early. A good skin care regimen will result in good skin. Skin
care products that work well for acne prone skin are:
AHA Rejuvenating Cleanser 4,
AHA Clear Skin Solution 8,
Ultra Light Hydrator and
Rapid Dry Sunscreen 15. When
starting a new skin care regimen be patient and expect your skin to go
through some unpleasant changes, such as breakouts and redness. The reason
is your skin needs time to adjust to the pH balance and moisture level of
new products. Once you start, expect your skin to fully adapt in about 6
weeks. Be patient and the reward of beautiful skin will be well worth it!!!

Moisturizers - Fact vs. Fiction
-
What do moisturizers do?? - Moisturizers can
relieve dry skin, protect from weather induced chaffing and prevent
make-up from being absorbed. Moisturizers cannot prevent wrinkles or cause
wrinkles to disappear, Only a sunscreen can prevent wrinkles caused by the
sun’s damaging rays. A moisturizer can make wrinkles less noticeable by
plumping up the top layer of skin and filling out fine lines. Products
that make difference in wrinkles and fine lines are the
AHA Rejuvenating products,
Vital “C” and Super “C” Serum and Advantage “A”
cream.
-
Face creams vs. body creams, what is the difference??
- Body lotions are formulated to be heavier and usually contain a small
amount of fragrance, which can be irritating to the face. Since they are
thicker in consistency they may also sting the face.
-
Do I really need an eye cream?? - YES!! Skin around
the eye is the thinnest and has no sebaceous (oil) glands which is one
reason why eye creams are very emollient. If you have never tried an eye
cream, start with the Gentle Supreme Eye Cream.
-
Do you need a night cream?? - Absolutely. If you
have mature and/ or very dry skin, a night cream is essential. A heavier
moisturizer such as the
Maximum Facial
Moisturizer, is an excellent choice. It is richer and formulated to
retain moisture to a greater degree.
